As you read these virtues, I pray that this is all from God and that He speaks to you as you read them. I also ask that as you think about what His Word says, that you apply them to your life and see where you fall according to God's standard. My sister, there is no satisfaction as the kind you find in Christ. Everyday I yearn more for His Word, presence and wisdom and I pray that the following virtues speak to you and open your heart to what God has willed for you.
The virtues of a Proverbs 31 woman in how God created us to be...
A virtuous woman is a homemaker, as seen in verse 15. She creates an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love for her family and guests. She uses hospitality to minister to those around her. (Proverbs 31: 15, Proverbs 31: 20 – 22, Proverbs 31: 27, Titus 2: 5, 1 Peter 4: 9, Hebrews 13: 2)
A woman of virtue is healthy and cares for her God-given body. She prepares healthy food for her family and takes constant care of all health and wellness as seen in verses 14, 15 and 17. (Proverbs 31: 14 – 15, Proverbs 31: 17, 1 Corinthians 6: 19, Genesis 1: 29, Daniel 1, Leviticus 11)
Verses 12 and 15 describe a woman serves her husband, her family, her friends, and her neighbors with a gentle and loving spirit. She is charitable and always generous. (Proverbs 31: 12, Proverbs 31: 15, Proverbs 31: 20, 1 Corinthians 13: 13)
A woman of God is industrious and works willingly with her hands. She sings praises to God and does not grumble while completing her tasks. (Proverbs 31: 13, Proverbs 31: 16, Proverbs 31: 24, Proverbs 31: 31, Philippians 2: 14)
Verses 14 and 16 portray a woman who is wise with finances and seeks her husband’s approval before making purchases and spends money wisely. She is careful to purchase quality items which her family needs. (Proverbs 31: 14, Proverbs 31: 16, Proverbs 31: 18, 1 Timothy 6: 10, Ephesians 5: 23, Deuteronomy 14: 22, Numbers 18: 26)
A virtuous woman respects her husband and values her marriage. Verses 11 and 12 describe her as doing him good all the days of her life. She is trustworthy and a helpmeet. (Proverbs 31: 11- 12, Proverbs 31: 23, Proverbs 31: 28, 1 Peter 3, Ephesians 5, Genesis2: 18)
Proverbs 31:26 and 28 tell of a woman who is a mother. She teaches her children the ways of her Father in heaven. She nurtures not only her children, but all around her with the love of Christ, disciplines them with care and wisdom, and trains them in the way they should go. (Proverbs 31: 28, Proverbs 31: 26, Proverbs 22: 6, Deuteronomy 6, Luke 18: 16)
Time is a very important virtue of the Proverbs 31 woman. She uses her time wisely. She works diligently to complete her daily tasks. She does not spend time dwelling on those things that do not please the Lord. (Proverbs 31: 13, Proverbs 31: 19, Proverbs 31: 27, Ecclesiastes 3, Proverbs 16: 9, Philippians 4:8)
A woman of virtue is a woman of worth and beauty. She has the inner beauty that only comes from Christ. She uses her creativity and sense of style to create beauty in her life and the lives of her loved ones. She displays the woman God created us to be. (Proverbs 31: 10Proverbs 31: 21 – 22, Proverbs 31: 24 -25, Isaiah 61: 10, 1 Timothy 2: 9, 1 Peter 3: 1 – 6)
A virtuous woman serves God with all of her heart, mind, and soul. Her faith is solely in Him and she seeks His will for her life and follows His ways. (Proverbs 31: 26, Proverbs 31: 29 – 31, Matthew 22: 37, John 14: 15, Psalm 119:15)
I am not sure what God has willed for my life but I am confident it is something
far greater than I can imagine as I try to become the woman of Proverbs 31. No
human being could ever live up to God's standard but if we all completely yield
ourselves to Christ and open our heart to what God has in store, out lives will
never be the same. I pray for you, myself and every woman on this earth. I pray
we all strive to be the godly women God intended us to be in a world full of
untruth and brokenness. It wasn't, isn't and never will be easy, but as
Matthew 19:26
says,
"...with God, all things are possible."
